1st-5th Grade Classes

The 1st Grade Class is a necessary step in the child’s faith formation. Before a child is enrolled in the 1st Eucharist Preparation Class, they must have already completed this class. This year, this class has a variety of ages and serves as an introductory class.

Teacher Materials: The text for this class is “Call to Faith” for 1st Grade. Extra copies can be ordered through Communication Center. We have an account with them: https://www.comcenter.com/
Children in our Archdiocese normally prepare to receive the Sacraments of 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist in the 2nd Grade. Often this class will have a mixture of ages.
Before a child is enrolled in the 1st Eucharist Preparation Class, they must have already completed 1 year of Religious Education. If they haven’t completed this, they will need to join our 1st Grade Class. If they are much older than 1st or 2nd Grade, they would enter an age appropriate class for a year. Then, In the second year they can join the Sacramental Prep Class.
The children prepare for the Sacrament of 1st Reconciliation in the fall and receive that sacrament sometime in November. They prepare to receive 1st Eucharist in the Spring and receive that Sacrament on or around Mother’s Day.

Our 3rd-5th Grade Class takes place in the library of our parish hall. Sharon Stevenson is our teacher.

Teacher Materials: The text for this class is “Pflaum Gospel Weeklies: Venture.” We have an account with them. They send renewal subscriptions to the parish regularly.
